Gracie Humaitá (pronounced ‘oo-mai-TAH’) is the name of the first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy in the world. Founded by Hélio Gracie and his brothers in the 1920s, the Gracie Humaitá team represents the purest and most direct connection to the founder of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Today, the name also represents the network of schools around the world that serve as direct representatives of that lineage and of Hélio’s son, Royler Gracie.

Girls in Gis is a community of women and girls in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that come together through free training days which are hosted, instructed, and attended only by women and girls. The purpose of Girls in Gis is to create a community of girls and women who train Brazilian jiu-jitsu and provide a fun, friendly environment for training. All training sessions are 100% free and open to women and girls of all ages and levels. Each Girls in Gis is hosted at a different academy throughout the state of Texas and instructed by the resident woman or women of that academy. Thereby, creating an environment that not only encourages women to train together, but to share knowledge with each other and build confidence as instructors. All women & girls are encouraged to participate, even if it's your first day. By coming together from all schools we can train, learn and grow the sport for women everywhere.
